Innovative Breakthrough|Dogain launched an extremely low threshold high-efficiency 980nm single-mode semiconductor laser pumping module

Recently, Dogain Optoelectronic Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. has successfully developed a new single-mode ultra-low threshold high-efficiency 980nm single-mode semiconductor pump module product based on the self-developed single-mode low-threshold chip, which has a threshold current of less than 36mA, a working current of less than 300mA at the output of 200mW optical fiber, and an electro-optical conversion efficiency of up to 44%, while having high performance and high reliability, which is an ideal choice for applications such as high-stability EDFA pump sources, lidar and fiber optic gyroscopes.

Application Background:

All-optical networks are the foundation of large-capacity optical communication, and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers can directly amplify optical signals, which is a key component for realizing all-optical networks. Because the erbium ions in erbium-doped fibers have high absorption efficiency in the 980nm band, and the single-mode 980nm semiconductor laser can efficiently pump the optical signal in the 1.55μm communication band, it provides an ideal and simple relay signal amplification scheme for long-distance optical fiber communication systems, so as to achieve large-capacity and long-distance optical signal transmission, and the 980nm pump module is the core component of EDFA. In addition, the 980 pump also has extremely important applications in satellite laser and space communications, fiber optic gyroscopes, ultrafast laser pumping sources, lidar, and 3D perception.

Performance characteristics and advantages:

1. Low threshold: The new design of independent chips is adopted, which effectively reduces the threshold current of the laser chip; And through the high coupling packaging technology, the threshold current of the fiber optic pump source module is less than 36mA.

2. High efficiency: When the chip output power is 300mW, the electro-optical conversion efficiency is up to 60%. The output power of the fiber optic coupled module is as high as 50mW, 125mW, and 200mW, respectively, and the electro-optical conversion efficiency can reach up to 44% under the driving current of 100mA, 200mA, and 300mA, respectively.

3. High lifespan: The module accelerates aging for 12,000 hours at high temperature and high current, and has passed the strict Telcordia GR-468-CORE standard verification.
